do MCs ruin sets?

Yeah, I 100% agree, MCs don't really add anything to a good set, if it's good music you wouldn't need someone to tell you when to put your hands up or to make some noise. I just want to hear the music when I go to see a DJ live. :)

I used to hate hearing them over Hardcore sets years ago. Seen some good MC's at D&B gigs though, and occaisionally over a Breaks set... but only good when done sparingly, not constant!

As for over other styles... NO!

Whoever thought it would work over an SVD (or any of that style of music) set should be shot... along with the MC!

depends on the music....its ok for house, dnb imo...as long as he doesnt talk to much...but oh well MC = MC :P thats their job

edit: if i would be playing on sensation or any kind of events id rather have some MC saying a couple of words here and there than myself :P

MCs and Trance music just don't go, but for DnB, Oldskool Hardcore and stuff like that yeah its fine its part of the vibe.

But... theres good MCs and there are bad MCs.
