How would you improve the TranceCommunity?

TranceCommunity is looking for your suggestions on how we can improve the site. We would appreciate any feedback you might have.

It was literally 2 days ago that we finished migrating servers. I agree completely it took way too long. Its been up 100% since we moved though so it should be ok in future

Forum simply went too big for old servers and CPU was running at 100%.

Right now at peak times its running @ 20.7 %

Thats with (113 members and 645 guests) online right now.

Simple, we need more contributing users here. I know it sounds stupid since this flashbacks us to my "leeching problem" and blabla but don't you know how few people actually even bother uploading a single file here. I know other forums like Danceforum & Makinamania similar sites like Trancecommunity a place for music lovers, but the major difference is that most users in those two sites as I come to know, contribute even if it's a one 1 byte file (Exaggerating.), I know this may sound cruel, but a min post count of at least 10 posts will do is in my opinion an improvement to this site, people just go straight to the downloads area once they registered and the majority don't even introduce themselves this will stop them a little bit since they have to post in order to access the downloads I think something like a "Kids section" is a way to go new users (unless you donate.) can only access certain parts of the forum til they show some matters, respect and some other usefulness.Trancecommunity is not a leech zone it's a place to chat, discover new music lovers of your style and of course you can download and discover new tunes.

Other than that, the updates this site has is just tedious for me. I sometimes can't access the site for 24 hours and the site is very slow at times I think a slowdown happens like 4 times a month not a whole lot and I do understand that the moderators here have responsibilities managing thier forums but I never wonder why it can take some time. Hmm, I would have to run my own website to understand this.

I think this other thing may sound useful: "Where the heck is the Electro / Synth-Pop section here? I remember that the Electro section was with the House one but it seems that it was discarded, that could be a bad idea since not to many users here will probably be interested in that style of music, similar to the drum n bass and hardcore sections they are very lacking in releases compared to the other sections, maybe this can help expand the music that trancecommunity offers to enthusiasts that arent here for just trance music the obvious main genre that this site specializes on.

Some new smileys may sound stupid and amusing but I've seen some pretty cooler ones then those already, doesn't help much at all but it's definitely interesting to see what some obsessive smiley users do with them. (For a laugh.)

Firstly the point i made about migrating servers should answer your downtime point. Trust me, it pisses me off as much as anyone when the site is down.

Secondly renamed a few forums recently and simply forgot to put the Electro title back in. Its hard to attract House music uploaders to a Trance Forum also.

Smileys can be easily done. Not much of a graphics designer myself but if you see anything good around the net just send them on and ill add them.

And for your main point that could be discussed all day. About 18 months ago methods like that where tried and they absolutely killed the Forum. People want instant gratification. I dont like it as much as you but thats just the way it is. Id love if the producers section and Music discussion section where as busy as downloads but thats a lot easier said than done.

Thats all i can think of now

Organizing releases by month and year would make this place a bit more clean. Everything posted is so scattered, and having a thank you button for everyone would be nice...there are times when links are down but someone else post a new link and I'm not able to thank them for it. Another thing sharing at least 10 links would contribute to the forum instead of just leeching, the forum I used to be mod on we required at least 100 posts in order to have access to the downloads section...and those 100 posts had to be legitimate posts and was monitored by moderators.

The minimum posts point was cleared up already. Its was implemented before and there was a mass evasion from the site.

Its a lot easier said than done.

Ill make it so you can say thanks on every post. Thats easily done. Idea in being first post only was so the original uploader gets the credit but mirrors are allowed now so i suppose its best to allow thanks on all post.

I'd like to see an option to organize threads in order of creation date instead of just last post

This is a great site but there are too many dead links, first you have to find what you want
then it might not even be online.

There needs to be a way of reporting dead links

Hi

In my case it would be nice if links are broken you can remove them youreself, i place my own mixes, after a will the download time expire, then i like too remove my post myself!

This is 50/50 . Some want it some dont so what we did was create the homescreen where its newest thread to the top and the sections themselves are last post.

Although with Filesonic / Megaupload issues its created a lot of dead links. People bumping 3 year old threads and expecting a live link. Most likely to be dead unfortunately unless its on mediafire.
I always believed its more like a voting system though. When you go into a section and see a thread with lots of replies your more tempted to download it. People are actually recommending it at the same time.

Theres always the options at the bottom the screen on every section to sort by a number of conditions.

Overall we may have a vote on it in a few weeks when things have settled down

Theres also a report button beside the thanks button.

Only suggestion i can give is to use Mediafire. You wont have to worry about dead links as much then.

Well for me, most of the links listed on here are no good for me because I live in the US. I have been able to use "Rapidgator" for now, until the government blocks that one too. (I know that had nothing to do with the topic discussed & that TranceCommunity.com can't do anything about it)

Make sure to check replies for Mediafire links.

The Megaupload Shutdown changed the Game. Gonna be a while before it settles down.

Theres a push towards Mediafire now so hopefully they are a lot more reliable.

We all know what happens if someone writes the word G_A_G_A (without the underlines) in the forum. How about doing the same with the word GUETTA ?
