Who wants the old trance/hardtrance sound back?

Hello, are you getting tired of hearing always the newest sounds..???
Dont you want to hear again the early sounds of:
Arne L 2 & Mirko Milano, Cosmic Gate, Derb, Hennes & Cold, Kai Tracid, Marc la Cruz, Scot Project, Cosmic Gate and Warpbrothers?

Why are these sounds never been played anymore?

It's just horrible...

We have made a concept to get this early sound (1998-2002) back on festivals and parties, we joined a contest for Q-base, soif you want this sound back plz vote for us:

http://poll.q-dance.nl/dropyourownarea and vote for Nominee 04: Defend the Origin!

I never get tired of hearing new sounds, music is constantly evolving, and has to or it would get stale.

I also never tire of the old classics, but you'll never get that sound back again in a modern tune as production techniques have improved greatly since they were made.

And yes i would like to see more nights banging out the classics, as you know every tune would be a winner!

Also there are many parties and the occaisional night out i go to that does cater for this (mainly the parties though)

For me the old Trance and the old hard-Trance is the music from 1990 to 1998 and yes, I have nostalgia for that sound, more sophisticated, less commercial and more studied and gave a lot more emotion than the actual sound.
Unfortunately I have to resign, that kind of music there will never be more

i agree that some of the old stuff has a quality about it and i love it but music has to keep moving forward and who knows given how things go round in circles maybe u wont have to wait too long for that sound to come bk around

I do miss the old sound, there are similar great sounding artists these days but they are all mostly unknown so you have to dig deep beneath the commer______m.

Re: Who wants the old trance/hardtrance sound back?

I LOVE old classic trance, but those days will never come back. I agree, there are some great artists out there today (Andy Bleuman, Ace Da Brain, Tranceye, to mention some) but the sound is "too perfect" for me, not so pure, if you know what I mean.
But I can define the difference:
You don't find tunes that "stuck in your mind" anymore, that run around your brain again and again even when you go to sleep! That's the difference!

Better than that can't be explained

Re: Who wants the old trance/hardtrance sound back?

I still love the 'classic' trance and still play it frequently in sets. However a lot of the new trance is excellent as well keeping the genre from stagnation. To be honest this topic appears in most forms of dance music, where the majority seem to prefer the 'older' sound. As for the comments about 'cant be explained' I totally agree, melodies these days are a lot more complex (in notation) but lack the feel / emotion that its predecessors acclaimed so well. What was that saying floating around in the 90's 'trance is produced with emotion not sound' was something along them lines.

The trouble these days is theres only 3 styles of trance, electro/ minimal, uplifting and vocal.

Uplifting is where the proper trance is at but they all sound the same in structure and melody. Back in 1998-2001 most tracks all sounded completely different to the point where the only similar ones were by the same remixer!

Plenty of variation in the good old days that severely lacks in the current climate.

Agree with Arctic, today there are still wonderful productions, but all similar to each other whereas before there was more 'fantasy' in the productions.
Probably because it was making music for the pleasure of making music and not for to sell as now...

Re: Who wants the old trance/hardtrance sound back?

I will always love the old trance sound but new sound is much more complex and has many layers.

I really stopped listening to trance around the end of 01 when I started djing prog. house and tech house but back in summer 08 I started to give it another go. At first I didnt like it much but as I started to really listen to it I found myself geting hooked. The smooth melodic style of the new progressive trance is so infectious and I really enjoy the slower bpms as well.

I still find myself braking out the old records and spinning up a set from time to time but I like where the new sound is going.

Re: Who wants the old trance/hardtrance sound back?

I think some of you guys have been listening to to many Classic Trance or Euphoria CDs.

A night at a rave was never like that.

I mean most of these tunes everyone bangs on about only made up a small proportion of the tunes back then, I never hear any mention of all the progressive trance, psychedelic trance, hard trance, breakbeat etc that made up over 90-95% of a DJs set. These set the tone and mood for the night, no one ever remembers these.

All that type of music is still there and being produced and as mentioned you gotta wade through alot of generic stuff to find it. You won't find it on any of the big labels though I'll tell ya that !!

I just wish people get this thing out of there head that Trance is all about uplifting music (I got nothing against uplifting music by the way) its called Trance for a reason look it up in the dictionary.

The fact that this threads got nearly 300 views and no ones questioned the earlier comment that theres only 3 types of Trance these days pretty much sums things up.

All so true! Which is why my favorite styles of trance in the 90s were goa/progressive styles (progressive being the original meaning by the way, totally different to what people use the word for these days) as they were hypnotically repetitive enough to send you into a trance on the dancefloor

i personally prefer the newer tunes cause maybe i am used to hearing those tunes and i was way too young to be in music in the 90`s(i was born in 1993):)....but for me i cant stand songs that are longer than 6 minutes because the build up is just way to long...just my opinion:)

Yeah but when say an 8 min tune is in a mix it would probably only have 6 mins actually playing... so all good eh? lol!:D

I have to wade in here, euphoria cds were great theres nothing wrong with that!

Well to me, trance is ALL about uplifting - thats the whole point.

Also, don't be dumping on everyone here for liking the classic uplifting trance just because they didnt listen to Psy Trance like you think they should have.
I personally hate Psy and so do most people who like trance, i find them nothing alike.

Also, my comment about there being 3 types of trance, i meant which everyone listens to and the twat djs play, not in general im not that thick

Sorry to vent but you did so i did
