Collab idea
I've started a house(ish) remix of Kool & The Gang - Cherish. It's not a scene I know anything about and wanted to be able to have at least one house track under my belt.
You can download an MP3 of everything that I have done up to now. I think it has some good ideas, I want to keep it quite chilled. I use FL Studio if that makes thing easier. Sadly (however you look at it) I paid for my copy of FL Studio so it is the Producer Edition rather than the XXL bundle. If you use another DAW then I have no problem with making up a pack with the track strems and I'll put the MIDI in there too. Here's the link to the track. Please give it a listen. I think everything was going well but then I ran out of ideas and had no clue as to what to do next: http://____________________/?d=JBMPHQSN

Re: Collab idea
perfect kinda tune to do a remix of. Could end up great.
Was thinking from your clip though that it sounds like you have almost copied the orginal's drum pattern (or maybe not lol). To make it more housey i'd suggest a straight 4/4 house beat, and overlay some funky assed percussion. Something along the lines of this... https://dc237.4shared.com/download/CRCVI6iJ/cherish.wav Of course you could use the pattern like in your clip as a little break to add interest every now and then, and to break up the main groove. Might be worth having more of a play around with your different synth sounds too. I use ableton myself but with a few loops of audio and midi would be no problem to translate from FL |
